Join us for this 40-minute presentation and 10-minute Q&A session on the topic of Balancing Elite Sport & Clinical Practice: A Unique Insight Into The Challenges and Benefits.

To coincide with the launch of our new Special Interest Group, the APodA are excited to host an upcoming webinar with Olympian and Sports Podiatrist, Matthew Clarke.

Matt will talk us through his journey into podiatry and running, and how they intertwined over time. He will talk us through the structure of his weekly and annual training schedule, culminating is his performances on the national and international stages. Matt will draw on personal experience to talk about injury management and performance support at an elite level, and how he used these learnings in his own clinical practice. There will also be ample opportunities to ask Matt about his experience on the international stage!

The Presenter:

Matthew Clarke

Matt is a 2x Olympian from Tokyo 2021 and Paris 2024 in the 3000m steeplechase. He is the current Oceania and Australian champion in the steeplechase and his personal best of 8:20.06 makes him the 5th fastest Australian of all time and the South Australian record holder at this distance. On top of that he is also a practicing sports podiatrist at the Sports & Arthritis Clinic in South Australia, servicing many of the state’s top athletes, combining his experience and passion for elite sport into the clinical space. When he isn’t running or practicing, Matt spends his time coaching juniors from his squad, Team Tempo, helping to build the next generation of distance athletes in South Australia.
