Exploring Dry Needling and its Clinical Representations

Day 1

Trigger Point Dry Needling and its Clinical Applications for Pain Management and Sports Injuries

This workshop introduction day will explore myofascial pain syndrome, trigger point therapy and dry needling in an easy to comprehend clinical approach training method

Course Outline:

  • Definitions of Trigger Points and myofascial pain syndrome
  • Palpation and massage techniques of the lower limb
  • Active release techniques
  • Neutral Testing
  • Dry Needling in the management of musculoskeletal pain of the calf, achilles, heel and ball of foot regions in detail
  • Spray and stretch techniques
  • Case studies

Day 2

Advanced Needling for Podiatrists

Day 2 of the workshop will expand the practical needling skills of eligible participants** and includes an introduction to anatomy trains and functional fitness movement testing and screening

**Participants must have completed Day 1 of the workshop to be eligible to attend Day 2.

Course Outline:

  • This workshop will introduce more needling skills and further increase your clinical effectiveness
  • The advanced workshop will continue with hands on practical sessions. After a review of previous content we will focus on specific techniques used for working through the complex management required for dealing with chronic pain, sports and musculoskeletal injuries
  • Explore the use of acupuncture and advanced dry needling techniques
  • Explore knee thigh and lower back needling techniques
  • You will be taught Dry Needling with the use of some traditional acupuncture points that when used can help to relieve chronic pain and improve homeostasis of tissue injuries
  • Nicole will also introduce Anatomy Trains (Tom Myers) and the use of functional Fitness Testing and movement screening in a clinical setting.

Cancellation Policy

If this workshop is cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions or related state government social distancing rule changes, or if the workshop presenter cancels due to COVID-19 restrictions or illness the APodA will refund your paid workshop fee in full. In all other events our regular cancellation policy remains in place.

If you are booked and paid for this workshop and you are experiencing fever, flu-like symptoms, shortness of breath or if you have been in contact with a person with a confirmed case of COVID-19, or who is at risk and is showing symptoms, please do not attend the workshop. If you happen to fall in this category at the time of the workshop, please contact the APodA via email or phone (03 94163111) and the APodA will refund your workshop fee in full.

CPD Terms & Conditions

  • By registering for an event with the APodA you will receive APodA correspondence and updates. You can choose to opt-out by unsubscribing.
  • All CPD fees must be paid in advance.
  • All cancellations must be received in writing.
  • Cancellations made less than 14 days prior to the event - 50% of costs paid are refundable.
  • Any CPD refunds given will be provided via the payment method (i.e. if you paid using Credit Card a refund will be processed via the same credit card).
  • Cancellations made less than seven (7) days prior to the event - no refund is available.
  • Participants are considered a “no-show” when they fail to show up to the CPD event they have registered for.
  • When registered participants become a “no-show” they take responsibility for the payment of their event cost and will note their registration cost has been paid for in advance by the APodA. If a participant is a “no-show” they will be responsible for paying 100% of the event cost and will not be eligible for a refund. If the event cost has not yet been paid they will be responsible for paying 100% of their event cost.
  • The APodA reserve the right to cancel or change the time or date of the event or change its venue, content and the speakers at any time at our discretion.
  • If the APodA exercise that right of cancellation we will refund 100% of any fees which attendees have paid in advance.
  • Credit card payments paid in advance will be refunded less the merchant fee of 1.5%.
