Dr Claire Hiller - Associate Professor
The University of Sydney
Dr Hiller is an Associate Professor in the area of musculoskeletal injury. Her current work focusses on two main areas: the development and impact of chronic problems following injury, particularly around the ankle; and dancer health and injury. Dr Hiller founded the Dance Research Collaborative (DaRC), a multidisciplinary group interested in dance-related research in the areas of injury, epidemiology, biomechanics, health, and performance. She has also worked as a physiotherapist for many years with adolescent dancers. Dr Hiller’s current research interests include: prevalence and impact of chronic ankle problems, predictors of chronic ankle instability, effect of ankle braces on performance, Australian dancer health, dancers' lower limb injuries, and dance as a health intervention.

Tomas Megalaa - Podiatrist

Tomas Megalaa attained a Bachelor of Health Science and Masters in Podiatric Medicine from the University of Western Sydney. Since then he has also attained a Masters of Public Health and is currently undertaking further studies in a PhD. He prides himself on the experience and knowledge he has strived to attain over the course of his working experience. He has dealt with all aspects of podiatry including but not limited to; sports and biomechanical caseloads, gerontology and diabetes education and management, high risk foot ( including all types of ulcer management), diabetic foot screening , pediatrics, neurological disorders of the lower limb as we work closely with NDIS to support clientele, injury at work and returning the patient to work, management of ingrown nails through minor surgery and management of dermatological conditions of the lower limb, also common conditions such as ankle sprain, wart removal, flat foot, knocked knees just to name a few.

Laura Hutchison - PHD Candidate
The University of Sydney
Laura is a PhD candidate in the Neuro-Musculoskeletal Research Collaborative at the University of Sydney, researching biomechanics, knee osteoarthritis, gait retraining and pain. Laura graduated from the University of South Australia in 2012 with a Bachelor of Podiatry with First Class Honours. She was awarded the Prestigious TG Mitchell Prize and named Best New Investigator at the 2013 Australasian Podiatry Conference for the presentation of her honours research. Laura has enjoyed a varied career journey so far, beginning in the high-risk foot department at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, progressing to private practice roles with a focus on musculoskeletal conditions and biomechanics, and academic leadership within several teaching positions. Laura is now working at the University of Sydney in biomechanics teaching and research roles while completing her PhD. Laura was the inaugural recipient of the SEPA research scholarship in 2021 and has also received competitive research funding from Arthritis Australia and the Australian Government.

Emily Smith - Sports Podiatrist
Emily Braidwood
Having graduated in 2005 from University of Western Sydney, Emily pursued her career in sports podiatry and became a Director of Sydney Sports Medicine Centre in 2008. Emily has worked with a variety of sporting clubs the Wallabies 2011 World Cup squad, the NSW Swifts Netball and Bangarra Dance Theatre as well as a patient base spanning the Australian Defence Force, NSW Police and NSW Institute of Sport. Emily is passionate about helping individuals return to sport from injury efficiently and enjoys consulting with active people who are motivated to return from injury as a better performing athlete. You may also recognise Emily from her brand Emily Braidwood where Emily combined the findings of her high heel research and further discoveries applicable to athletes and active individuals with tested scientific principles to develop contemporary technology to deliver a large variety foot / shoe interventions.

Harriet Thurlow - Podiatrist
Harriet is an endorsed podiatrist working in the private sector in Sydney’s CBD and is currently a sports podiatry candidate.
Harriet completed her endorsement in Perth whilst working alongside surgeons to manage a diverse clinical load in sports podiatry and post surgical rehabilitation management.
Now based in Sydney full time, Harriet’s clinical focus has moved towards sports podiatry where she has learnt to appreciate the association between bio mechanical injuries and surgical intervention.
Her experience in the prescription of medications for the treatment and management of podiatric conditions has also provided her with a balanced understanding of the beneficial role that medications maybe play at various stages throughout the treatment phase..

Dr Frances Henshaw - Professional & Clinical Development Manager
Convatec
Podiatrist and researcher Dr Fran Henshaw is currently the Professional & Clinical Development Manager for Australia and New Zealand with Convatec Previous to this, Fran was a lecturer in podiatry in the school of Science and Health at Western Sydney with a research and teaching focus in the prevention and management of diabetes related foot disease. Fran also leads The Wound Doctors podcast.
